Overtrick

Overtrick is a bridge-inspired deckbuilder roguelike, where you upgrade your deck and take on increasingly difficult contracts.

How to Play

Upgrade a Card. Want to convert cards from one suit to another? Pick up "Suit Yourself." How about automatically winning tricks with "Trick Shot?"

Choose the Trump Suit. Pick your best suit, or go for "No Trumps."

Win the Contract. Your first contract will require you to win 7 of 13 tricks. Win that contract, upgrade a card, choose trumps, and your second will require 8. Win, upgrade, trumps, and your third requires 9. And so on.

I Haven't Played Bridge Before

That's OK! This game simplifies the "bidding" part of Bridge and focuses on the "trick-taking" part of the game.

If you've played a trick-taking card game before, there are just a few things to know:

  • This is a partner game, so the AI players on your left and right are working together, and the player across from you is on your team.
  • The hand across from you (top of screen) is the "dummy hand." YOU get to play cards out of both your hand AND the dummy hand. BUT the AI players can also see all the cards in the dummy hand.

If you haven't played a trick-taking card game before, here's how this one works:

  • Each "trick," players take turns playing one card from their hands.
  • You must play a card from the SAME SUIT as the first player's card (the "lead suit").
  • The player who plays the highest-ranking card wins the trick AND gets to start the next trick. You can play a card from any suit when you start a trick.
  • If a player doesn't have any lead suit cards, they can play any card. If they play a "trump suit" card, that card will win the trick (unless a higher trump suit card is played). Otherwise, the card is considered a "discard," no matter how high the rank.
  • You play cards from both your own hand (bottom of screen) and your partner's hand (top of screen).
